Step onto a real robotics team—students design, build, and program VEX IQ robots, then compete in official matches and regional events on regulation fields.
Tuesdays @ 5:15pm | Grades 4 to 10
$595.00
This is a competitive robotics team—not a drop-in class.
Students work together to design, build, program, and refine VEX IQ robots for real competition. From the first session, they are part of a team: planning strategy, testing ideas, solving problems, and preparing for matches on official VEX competition fields.
Participants don’t follow instructions or complete preset builds. They work through the full engineering process—designing mechanisms, writing and improving code, testing under real conditions, and iterating based on performance. Along the way, they learn how to think and operate as a team: dividing responsibilities, communicating clearly, and executing under pressure.
Each week builds toward competition. Early sessions focus on understanding the game and developing initial designs. From there, students move into cycles of building, programming, testing, and refining—continually improving both the robot and their strategy. Returning team members don’t repeat work—they take on more advanced roles, contribute to higher-level design decisions, and help lead the team through increasingly complex challenges.
Practice takes place on official VEX fields using the same game elements and rules used in competition. By the end of the season, students are fully prepared to compete in their first real competition... the Florida Fun-in-the-Sun regional tournament in Orlando.
This is a fully immersive, all-inclusive program. Registration covers team fees, robotics kits, materials, practice equipment, and entry into the end-of-season regional competition. Students meet weekly for extended, two-hour sessions, allowing the time needed to build, test, and refine at a level that matches real teams.
Guardians are required to complete our waiver before the first club meeting--if they haven't already done so for a different SPARKGROUNDS event. All events are led by professionally trained and insured staff who have passed a Level 2 background check. Students can withdraw from a class series at any time simply by emailing us and prorated refunds are always provided automatically.
This SPARKGROUNDS event is available for direct pay through Florida's Step Up FES-EO, UA, and PEP scholarships. Find events in the Marketplace by selecting 'find providers' and searching for 'SPARKGROUNDS.'
