Build. Program. Improve. Engineer Intelligent Machines.

Robots don't become successful because they are built correctly the first time. They become successful through testing, troubleshooting, iteration, and improvement. In the Robotics Workshop, students learn how engineers and roboticists approach real-world challenges by designing, programming, and refining robotic systems.

Students progress through a structured robotics pathway that develops both engineering and programming skills. New participants learn the fundamentals of movement, control, sensors, and logic while experienced students tackle increasingly sophisticated challenges involving autonomous behavior, advanced programming, robotic design, and system integration.

Because students work at their own level, new and returning participants can continue growing together. Explorers focus on foundational robotics concepts and programming. Builders develop increasingly capable robotic systems and autonomous behaviors. Engineers tackle advanced challenges involving design, optimization, sensors, and complex problem-solving. Each level builds on the previous one, creating a long-term pathway rather than a series of disconnected projects.

  • Learn robotics, programming, engineering, and computational thinking through hands-on challenges
  • Progress through a structured pathway from beginner to advanced robotics
  • Work with robots, sensors, controllers, and programming environments
  • Develop debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills through iterative design
  • Build confidence by designing, programming, and improving real robotic systems

Classes meet every other week, giving students time to think about challenges, refine strategies, and return ready to improve their solutions.

Robotics Pathway

  • Explorer Level: Robot movement, precision driving, programming fundamentals, sensors, navigation, and introductory autonomous challenges
  • Builder Level: Advanced programming, sensor integration, decision making, obstacle courses, robotic systems, and engineering challenges
  • Engineer Level: Autonomous robotics, optimization, advanced sensors, custom mechanisms, system design, and complex robotics challenges
  • Engineering Process: Design, programming, testing, debugging, iteration, and improvement throughout the semester
  • Final Showcase: Design, program, refine, and demonstrate a robotic solution to a culminating challenge

Guardians are required to complete our waiver before the first club meeting--if they haven't already done so for a different SPARKGROUNDS event. All events are led by professionally trained and insured staff who have passed a Level 2 background check. Students can withdraw from a class series at any time simply by emailing us and prorated refunds are always provided automatically.

This SPARKGROUNDS event is available for direct pay through Florida's Step Up FES-EO, UA, and PEP scholarships. Find events in the Marketplace by selecting 'find providers' and searching for 'SPARKGROUNDS.'
