Imagine. Design. Create. Build What’s Next.

This isn't a one-time 3D printing class—it's a design and fabrication studio that grows with the student.

Participants learn how to turn ideas into real, physical objects using professional tools and processes. Students begin with accessible CAD tools like TinkerCAD and, as they're ready, move into more advanced design work in Shapr3D and AutoCAD. Along the way, they don't just "make projects"—they learn how to think like designers and engineers: planning, prototyping, testing, and refining.

Each session introduces new challenges, new tools, and new materials. Returning students don't repeat work—they go deeper, take on more complex builds, and expand what they're capable of creating. A first-time student might be learning how to model and print a simple object; a returning student might be designing multi-part systems, functional mechanisms, or precision-fit components—or even create and refine a project that is ready to sell!

Projects range from creative builds to real-world tools—always grounded in how 3D printing is actually used.

  • Builds real design and problem-solving skills through hands-on work
  • Uses professional-grade tools, software, and printers
  • Designed for both new and returning students at multiple levels
  • Students take home multiple original, functional prints

Classes meet every other week, giving students time between sessions to think, plan, and iterate. All materials and filament are included.

Fall 2026 Topics

  • Week 1: Design Sprint — From Idea to Print in One Session
  • Week 2: Reverse Engineering — Take It Apart, Rebuild It Better
  • Week 3: Structural Design — Strength Through Geometry
  • Week 4: LiDAR Capture — Scan, Modify, Improve
  • Weeks 5-6: Motion Systems — Designing for Movement
  • Week 7: Materials Lab — Designing for Real-World Use
  • Week 8-9: Final Build — Invent, Prototype, Iterate

Guardians are required to complete our waiver before the first club meeting--if they haven't already done so for a different SPARKGROUNDS event. All events are led by professionally trained and insured staff who have passed a Level 2 background check. Students can withdraw from a class series at any time simply by emailing us and prorated refunds are always provided automatically.

This SPARKGROUNDS event is available for direct pay through Florida's Step Up FES-EO, UA, and PEP scholarships. Find events in the Marketplace by selecting 'find providers' and searching for 'SPARKGROUNDS.'
