Join us for a creative and educational hands-on workshop where children will design, build, and plant their very own terrarium! This workshop is perfect for kids of all ages—whether they’re a budding scientist, an artist, or just love getting their hands dirty. No experience is needed, and all materials are provided.
During the workshop, children will design and build your own terrarium by selecting plants, arranging them inside a glass container, and learning how to create a thriving mini-ecosystem. After crafting the terrarium, children will explore basic circuitry by building a working grow light, connecting components like wires, batteries, and LEDs to ensure the plants get the light they need. This experience blends nature and technology, teaching about plant growth, sustainable ecosystems, and how STEM concepts can enhance our understanding and care for living environments.
By the end of the workshop, children will have a beautiful, living terrarium and a working grow light circuit all build by their own hands.X It’s a fun, hands-on way to explore science, technology, and nature all at once!
After enrolling, parents or guardians will be sent a liability release and waiver. That document must be returned before the event.
This event is approved for the PEP and FES scholarships and can be purchased here or directly on the Step Up website.
