Get ready for an exciting three-hour hands-on workshop where children ages 8 to 17 will build their very own flying or boating drone! Whether your child is brand new to drones or has a bit of experience, this workshop is designed for all skill levels--no experience necessary and all parts are provided.
During the workshop, children will learn the basics of engineering and drone assembly, from connecting motors and propellers to building the finished product. They'll also explore circuitry as they wire batteries and control boards, gaining hands-on experience with electronics. Working in small teams, children will develop collaboration and problem-solving skills (and get a chance to make new friends during the provided lunch). Once the drone is built, children will enter the testing phase, where they’ll learn to troubleshoot and fix any issues, all while discovering how STEM principles power their creation.
By the end of the workshop, children will have a fully working drone and a deeper understanding of the engineering, electronics, and problem-solving that make it all possible. This is a fun, educational experience that blends creativity, STEM learning, and teamwork!
After enrolling, parents or guardians will be sent a liability release and waiver. That document must be returned before the event.
This event is approved for the PEP and FES scholarships and can be purchased here or directly on the Step Up website.
