Mix. React. Analyze. Discover Why It Works.

Experimental Chemistry at SPARKGROUNDS is built around real investigation—students don’t watch experiments, they run them.

Participants work through hands-on experiments that explore how substances interact, change, and behave under different conditions. They measure, mix, test, and observe—learning how to control variables, recognize patterns, and make sense of real results. Along the way, they don’t just follow steps—they learn how to think like scientists: asking questions, forming hypotheses, testing ideas, and refining their approach based on what actually happens.

Each session introduces new reactions, new materials, and new ways to investigate. Returning students don’t repeat work—they take on more complex experiments, track more variables, and develop a deeper understanding of what’s happening and why. A first-time student might be exploring basic reactions and observation; a returning student might be adjusting concentrations, comparing outcomes, or designing their own variations to test.

Work ranges from visually engaging reactions to more controlled, analytical experiments—always grounded in how chemistry is actually practiced.

  • Builds real scientific thinking through hands-on experimentation
  • Uses real materials, tools, and measurement techniques
  • Designed for both new and returning students at multiple levels
  • Students actively run, test, and analyze their own experiments

Classes meet every other week, giving students time between sessions to reflect, question, and build on what they’ve learned. For a full Monday experience, pair the Experimental Chemistry Workshop with our 3D Printing Workshop and keep your child creating, thinking, and experimenting every week. All materials are included.

Guardians are required to complete our waiver before the first club meeting--if they haven't already done so for a different SPARKGROUNDS event. All events are led by professionally trained and insured staff who have passed a Level 2 background check. Students can withdraw from a class series at any time simply by emailing us and prorated refunds are always provided automatically.

This SPARKGROUNDS event is available for direct pay through Florida's Step Up FES-EO, UA, and PEP scholarships. Find events in the Marketplace by selecting 'find providers' and searching for 'SPARKGROUNDS.'
