Create. Design. Make. Animate.

This immersive, full-week creative camp gives students the time and structure to explore art the way real creators do—through experimentation, iteration, and making. In a studio-style environment, students work across traditional art, digital design, stop-motion filmmaking, and 3D modeling, carrying ideas from early sketches to finished artworks, animations, and 3D-printed creations.

Each day follows a clear rhythm that balances guidance with creative freedom. Students arrive and begin a focused morning work cycle featuring short demonstrations, technique spotlights, and guided mini-lessons—followed immediately by hands-on studio time to apply what they’ve learned. After a supervised lunch and outdoor break, students return for an afternoon work cycle centered on building, refining, troubleshooting, and extending projects—where they learn that great work is made through revision, not rushing.

Students also hear from an industry professional working in art, animation, design, or creative technology, offering real-world insight into creative careers and professional workflows. Lunch and snacks are included daily, and outdoor time is intentionally built into the schedule to support focus, energy, and balance.

  • Studio-style instruction with experienced SparkGrounds educators and small-group support
  • Traditional art, digital creation, stop-motion filmmaking, and 3D modeling/printing in one connected experience
  • Guided creative challenges that build skills while honoring student choice and personal style
  • All core tools and materials provided, plus lunch, snacks, and daily outdoor break time
  • Industry guest speaker and a final showcase of student work

Daily Focus & Progression

  • Day 1: Studio Foundations & Visual Storytelling
Students build a creative “toolkit” for the week—sketching, composition, color and style exploration, and concept development. The goal is to generate strong ideas and begin a cohesive set of work that can translate across mediums.
  • Day 2: Digital Design & Illustration Techniques
Students move from paper to digital tools, learning key techniques such as layering, brushes, shapes, type, and layout. Projects focus on designing original visuals that can be used for posters, scenes, or story elements.
  • Day 3: Stop-Motion Filmmaking — Sets, Characters & Storyboards
Students design characters and environments, plan short scenes, and storyboard their animation. They learn how framing, timing, and lighting affect storytelling, then begin filming frame-by-frame sequences.
  • Day 4: 3D Modeling & 3D Printing — From Concept to Object
Students translate a design into a 3D model and prepare it for printing. Emphasis is placed on practical design decisions—scale, structure, and printability—so creations come out successfully and look the way students intend.
  • Day 5: Final Production, Refinement & Showcase
Students complete final edits, refine artwork and animations, and finalize 3D-printed pieces. The week concludes with a showcase where students present their work, explain their process, and celebrate growth across multiple creative mediums.

This camp is welcoming to both beginners and experienced creators, with optional stretch challenges for students who want to go further in digital tools, animation technique, or 3D modeling. By the end of the week, students leave with a body of work they’re proud of—and a stronger understanding of how artists and designers develop ideas into finished creations.
